Goose Eye Icon brings pattern into a room without turning the floor into a graphic announcement. Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg enlarged and clarified a traditional Swedish goose-eye motif for Kasthall, giving a familiar woven structure enough scale to register across contemporary furniture. The pattern creates movement, but its repeated geometry remains calm when the rest of the room is occupied.

Kasthall weaves each rug to order at its mill in Kinna, Sweden. Wool forms the visible weft while linen provides the warp, producing a relatively flat surface of approximately five millimeters rather than a deep pile. The construction is dense, reversible in spirit if not specification, and available in custom widths and lengths. Subtle variation in the yarn prevents the pattern from becoming mechanically flat.

The low profile sits well beneath dining chairs and doors, sheds crumbs more readily than a shaggy rug, and works with underfloor heating. Wool naturally resists much ordinary soil, though spills still reward prompt blotting and professional cleaning is the prudent course for larger accidents. The sharp pattern will reveal poor placement, so measure around furniture rather than simply filling the room from wall to wall.

A rug must do more than soften footsteps. It establishes proportion, absorbs sound, and connects objects that otherwise appear to be waiting separately for attention. Goose Eye Icon performs those duties while retaining an identity of its own. It is traditional without nostalgia, decorative without spectacle, and durable enough for the rooms in which people actually gather.
